The Importance of Backing Up

In this computerized age, making backups of your critical data has become a crucial, but often overlooked necessity.

You’ve probably heard the old cliché: “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.” There couldn’t be a more accurate statement when it comes to backing up and saving your valuable data.

Can you imagine leaving home or your business and simply not locking your doors? Anyone could enter at anytime, and do whatever they want. Using this analogy, if you were in a bad neighborhood, you might expect the uninvited guest to damage and possibly steal your belongings. In this case, a ‘hacker’, or even someone with a small amount of computer savvy, easily connecting to an unsecured wireless network could do similar damage to the contents of your hard drive. (Your files!!)

Here’s another good example;
Let’s say that you have just purchased a new turnkey business that is successfully thriving. Unfortunately after only one year, a fire destroys the whole building. Of course you can rebuild. But what about all of your customers? What will happen to all of the tools and utilities that you have been using to grow that business and to turn profit?

Well similarly, a high capacity, durable and well made hard drive may have a 5 year warranty. The hard drive manufacturer will gladly exchange your failed hard drive for a new one. However…there will be no consideration whatsoever for the files that are stored on your hard drive. Unfortunately, you’re on your own. (Unless the hard drive manufacturer also performs data recovery. In that case, they will happily refer you to a sales consultant to sell you data recovery.)

How to Unclog Your Computer

I worked on many computers lately and I noticed something the most is that there are still programs on computers that are no longer needed.

Some new computers have a lot of software demos there for customers to try. If they like, they have the option to buy it. If they do not like, or even try it, the computer still has to save the program and all associated files.

In addition, many parents sometimes buy educational software for children. Children 9-10 years now, but the software is purchased for the year, 3-4 years remain on the computer.

Another example is AOL. Some people have started using AOL, then they decided to go to the cable modem, DSL, fiber optics and AOL are no longer used. Even if they do not use the software and all files remain on your computer.

The entire above mentioned slow computer, especially leaving AOL on it. AOL is a great program and put the ubiquitous pieces of software, including a program called registry.

Registry is a program that tracks everything on the computer. If you no longer use the application and you do not uninstall registry to go through all the data to get to go.

Thus, the first step to get rid of the application you no longer need is to go to the Start menu and see all the programs and files in the All Programs menu option. Just look in different folders and applications to see what you no longer use, or even heard of.

The next step is to click on the Start menu and click the Control Panel. When I open the Control Panel click Add / Remove program option. In XP and Vista, the Add / Remove Programs in both the first line (the VIES icon), or in the left column (the words display).

When the Add / Remove open, you will see all installed applications. If you have many applications on your computer can take up to 30 seconds or more to complete all on the screen.

Computer Training School Tutorial: Know Your Instructor

Making the decision to attend the school of computer technology may be one of the best decisions in your life. Another good decision is to remove the hidden wealth of knowledge that just before all students in schools such as ECPI and ITT, but very few students take advantage of it.

When you attend a computer training school, you must avoid the mentality that some other students would have – “I have to go to school, I would be here, I cannot wait to leave and go home.” When you prepare for a career working with computers, you should take advantage of any learning experience you can get, and that includes awareness of the most valuable resource in your school – your teacher!

Your teacher has a busy schedule, but it is my experience that whenever I ask for help or have questions outside of class, my teacher went extra mile to help me. I am sure you will do the same for you, but you should let them know that you want to help!

At the technical school, you must develop the skills and work ethic that you will use to succeed in the IT field. By staying after class, overtime in the computer lab, and to know your instructor, you will be surprised by the additional knowledge you can take. Almost all teachers have a good real world experience, and you need to build on that knowledge. After lunch with an instructor is a great idea because it allows you meet them in the class.

1. Stuck in traffic? Getting the time and do something when you’re at it. This hands-free! In the space of your daily commute you can “read” the best-selling fiction, biographies and books of interest.

2. Housekeeping duties? Listen while you work and practical tasks will be made. Well, maybe not, but you will definitely be more fun!

3. Brisk walking? Audio book (yet) change hands-free miles in the minutes. Some of my friends “read” all around the mall for their workout in the evening.

4. Spend time waiting for your doctor appointments? Using audio books to give you options of what to read. Most magazines are provided in the doctor’s office I was pretty out-of-date.

5. Having trouble finding a quiet corner in your home? With teenagers in my house there is never a quiet corner. Not a problem. I can “read” I do not care level decibel Audiobooks!

6. Limitations of arthritis or similar diseases? With the audio does not need to struggle with the volume of heavy, awkward or complicated! We recommend the local library audio books for elderly people who are struggling to hold paperbacks.

7. Hospitals or nursing? It can be very difficult to share a room with a person suffering from hearing loss. But again – with audio books can adjust the volume without disturbing the other customers!

With the audio no matter where you live or your age. Unlike eBooks you do not have to sit at the computer to read. There are thousands of titles that await you. So explore the possibilities!
